Keep calm and carry on growing

With Covid 19 here to stay for 2020 causing world-wide panic and mayhem wrecking lives and businesses, with normal life a distant memory - at Petals and Pixels we see this is as an opportunity to be stuck in our garden and getting on with growing.

After our first successful growing season of cut flowers in 2019 we had already decided to make some changes which included providing pick-your-own and self-service options. In light of Covid 19 it seems to make even more sense. So in the next few months we are adapting an old stable and this will be built close to our drive, with parking, where cut flowers will be available by the bucket on a self-service basis. Bespoke flowers and other deliveries will be able to pick-up from here.

If we are told to stay at home – then it will be a time for us to concentrate on the nursery. Get all the jobs done that we have been putting off. Move dry loving plants out of the wet in to the dry and vice versa. Is it time to move those established Acers? Erect the poly-tunnel that we have been planning for ages. Establish the expanded herb garden that we have been talking about. We have so much to do.

Whilst we are not making anything on the back of Coronavirus, like many businesses this year we will be losing money - but at least we can progress our growing capabilities. Or in other words being positive in a negative situation and making the most of a terrible situation. Be safe and be kind.
